PEX Repipe Plumbing Orange County Homes

PEX Repiping In Orange County
PEX Repiping require less fittings than copper piping. The bendable tubing can turn corners without the need for 90 degree fittings, and PEX tubing can be installed in long runs without the need for extra fittings. Repiping a home with PEX tubing does not require soldering, PEX is also safer to install since a torch is not needed to make the fitting connections.. PEX resists the scale build-up common with copper pipe, and does not pit or corrode when exposed to acidic water. PEX is more resistant to freeze-breakage because the pipe is flexable. PEX tubing does not lose heat as fast as copper, and so conserves more energy.
Water flows with less sound through PEX tube, and the "water hammer" noise of copper pipe is less common. PEX Repipe installations cost less because of the material cost and there is less labor involved.

Orange County Slab Leak Lawsuit

Orange County residents have been experiencing slab leaks in large numbers of areas such as Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, Irvine and Santa anna, but from what i understand there is a lawsuit going on to try to figure out which partys are going to be responsable. From what ive seen in the past with these lawsuits is that the homeowners that live in those areas affected will get a refund of of a pre set amount determined by the courts once the lawsuit goes through. The Orange County slab leaks usally start out as a small pin hole in the pipe under the house and can quickly turn into water damage to your home, and in most cases one pin hole means that there will be more to come.

Orange County Slab Leak Detection For Homeowners

Slab Leak Detection

If you think you have a slab leak in your home there are a few things you can do yourself to determine if you have a leak and where the slab leak is.
First thing you can do is check the city water meter in front of your house. Make sure all the water in your home is turned off then go out to the meter and take the cover off the meter but be warned that there will be spiders, after you get the cover off the meter there should be a lid you can flip up on top of the meter, once the meter lid is open what you want to look for is a small red triangle. If the triangle is spinning then there is water leaking some where in your home or main line.(Note this method will not work if there is a shower valve or a faucet leaking in your home.)
Another way to tell is if you can hear water running through the pipes even when everything in the house is turned off including the sprinklers. If you hear the sound of running water behind your walls you most likely have a leak.
To locate the leak you can feel the floor for any moisture or unusual hot or cold spots. If the slab leak is on the hot water pipe the floor will feel hot if its on the cold the floor will feel cold. One way to do this quickly is to walk the house bare foot to locate the moisture and hot or cold spots.

The Cost Of Repiping Your Orange County Home

When it comes to the cost of repiping your home many factors come into play.
copper main line
First is the material cost involved in doing the repipe, homes that are wide spread will use alot more materials than homes that have all the fixtures in close proximity of each other, and of corse the number of bathrooms that have to be repiped affect the price as well.
Second is the labor, homes that will require more labor will cost more to repipe, for example two story homes usally require more work (and alot more holes in your walls) or if your home has slab foundation with a valted celings.
Third is the main line, if your main line going into your home is already copper or PVC usally it wont need to be replaced, but if its galvanized pipe your going to want to replace it. The cost of the main line is usally added extra to the repipe estimate because not every home needs the main line replaced. Thangs that can affect the cost of the main line are the disence between the city meter and the home, another factor is if it has to go under a retaining wall.
